Welcome to the Chemo
Is Harder Cancer Research Run.
This site chronicles the planning and the completion of the 429
mile unsupported run across
South Dakota
in May 2008 that is known as the Chemo Is Harder Cancer Research
Run. No support crew, no
“sag wagon”, just 2 self-sufficient runners, covering an average
of 30 miles per day while pushing roughly 45 pounds of gear, raising
awareness and financial support for cancer research.
The Chemo Is Harder Cancer Research Run started
long before the creation of a website and the amazing support from
individuals and corporations. The
Chemo Is Harder Cancer Research Run was a direct result from both
Nolan Taylor
and Brendan Murphy's personal experience with cancer.
Nolan Taylor
’s father is currently fighting a bout of tonsil cancer that he
was diagnosed with in 2006 and has since led to chemo therapy,
radiation, and surgery. On the other hand, Brendan Murphy’s mother
is an uterine cancer survivor and his father died of melanoma skin
cancer in 2003. The idea
of the Chemo Is Harder Cancer Research Run came as a result of both
Brendan and Nolan wanting to do something big to help others who are
either going through cancer themselves or have friends, family, or
other loved ones who have been affected by cancer.
With the Chemo Is Harder Cancer Research Run, Nolan and
Brendan are hoping to raise financial support and awareness for
cancer research through a positive outlook on life and a healthy
lifestyle. Chemo Is
Harder is a grassroots effort to get everyone thinking about cancer
and cancer research and how they can help.
